• Clean sooner than later

Generally, spills and stains are easier to clean when you attack them right away. There are rare exceptions like mud tracked on your carpet, which is easier to clean when you let it dry first.

• Clean from top down 

While cleaning the house, start from the ceiling, followed by window frames and wall hangings/frames. Moving downwards, clean the furniture and then floor.

• Think Dry, then Wet

When you are cleaning the room, start with the cleaning job that requires dry methods (dusting, vacuuming, sweeping).

Move on to wet methods like mopping thereafter.

• Star with the least harmful approach

Use gentle cleaning methods first. Move to more aggressive methods only if necessary. 

• When in doubt, test it out first

Before using new cleaning technique or product, test it out on an inconspicuous area of the object you are cleaning. This will tell you whether the cleaning method/ product is suitable for the object you want to clean.

• Read the Instructions to use the product

 Follow the manufacturer’s instructions before cleaning. Using the product in a right way goes long way in getting the desired results.

• Last but not the least, take care of yourself.

Many cleaning products contain abrasives, acids, bleaches, and other ingredients that can cause mild or serious damage. So, make sure your cleaning kit includes a pair of rubber gloves, and protective safety glasses.

• When you are using cleaning chemicals, make sure your room is properly ventilated.
